The Tour de France Opens Dramatically

The Tour de France Opens Dramatically (But the Shack Make a Great Showing) For Team RadioShack supporters the expectation of our favourite team must be immense; the year to date has been a good one for the Team. Latterly Levi Leipheimer took the Tour de Suisse by riding an exceptional final stage time trial, Chris [...]

Winter Cycling Gloves

Due to very poor circulation in my hands, I’ve researched a lot of gloves for winter. At various times, I have tried a huge range of gloves, and combinations of gloves. When I looked around the house, I found over 19 pairs (or incomplete pairs of gloves) – and that doesn’t include the ones I’ve [...]

Brajkovic Leaps into 3rd Place at Dauphiné

Team RadioShack?s Janez Brajkovic (SLO) put in an excellent performance in today?s Stage 3, Individual Time Trail of the Critérium du Dauphiné in Grenoble, France, putting himself in very good position (3rd in the overall General Classification so far) to contend this race, and defend the victory he took here last year. And, putting icing [...]

Kloden Leads the GC after Stage 2 in Vuelta al País Vasco 2011

Stage 2 and another day in the mountains. The good news? Well at least the weather?s good! With 45 kms to ride the peloton was following a breakaway group, descending a sweeping, wide and sun-flooded road from Berastegi. The boys of Garmin-Cervelo had the front and were enjoying the pace setting. The breakaway, including Moinard [...]

Could this be a new beginning for cycling?

The USADA has released it’s reasoned decision on Lance Armstrong and doping, and it makes depressing reading. But could it also, finally, mark a new era of completely clean and honest cycling? We have been here before. Cycling was supposed to clean itself up after the Festina scandal of 1998. The man that was supposed [...]

Brick By Brick: A Building Update

Brick by brick, or rather SIP by SIP. That is how our building went up.

Over the past year we have transformed the Adventure Cycling headquarters by adding 1400 new square feet, and updating the green ratings in other parts of the building. It has been a long, involved process but we are finally there. All we have left is to install the courtyard gate, which seems to be eternally two weeks out.

We are starting to see the fruits of our labor however. With positions open for two new employees and interviews happening as we speak, our goal of adding 10 to 15 new staff positions is slowly being realized.  We cant wait to fill this new space with an expanded team of passionate, qualified individuals who can help us make all of your bicycle travel dreams come true.

Many generous donors have contributed, by joining the Founders Circle, becoming Building Sponsors, or making general donations. In 2012 we raised approximately $250,000 to cover the gap between the Life Member Fund and the cost of the expansion. You can still become an unbreakable spoke in Adventure Cycling's history and future by becoming a Building Sponsor with your name on our courtyard wall or by joining our Founders Circle.  Your donation will help us with continued capital improvements and investments as well as with fulfilling our nonprofit mission and programs. There are also some unique recognition opportunities that will ensure your name is attached to this building as long as we are.

Donate today to keep our lights on and our hard drives churning out the best bike travel resources you can find. While you're at it, check out our Flickr gallery of images showcasing the building process.
