Bradley Wiggins wins Tour de France 2012

As Bradley Wiggins was interviewed by the Champs Elysees after finally wining the great race, Ned Boulting commentated that Wiggins and his Team have set so many historical precedents in the past few week, he must be running out of suitable quotes. But, though Wiggins may be sometimes short with journalists, he never seems short [...]

Fancy a mega super sportive this weekend?

It?s probably just coincidence but if you swap the third and fourth letters of the biggest climb in the Wiggle Super Series Mega Meon around, it becomes Buster Hill. Truth be told Butser, as it?s called when un-anagrammed, isn?t a proper killer climb, but coming 30 miles into both the 95-mile Epic and 72-mile Standard [...]

Looking Up

Sometimes our super-saturated, media-driven world can get me down. The sheer amount of bad news one can ingest in a single day via the internet, radio and television can be overwhelming.

That's when I want to get on my bike and ride. And then when I'm tired, I look for a tree ... the biggest tree I can find. I get off my bike and lie with my head against the trunk of the tree and simply look up. The trunk reaches toward the sky, representing decades, or even centuries (the tree above is a 300 year-old Douglas Fir).

I imagine the history that these mighty trees have lived through including wars, floods, famines, weddings, births, and deaths. But at this moment, gazing up through history, all I see is beauty.

Take the time to pedal to the base of a grand tree, lie down and spend some time looking up.

You'll be amazed at how quickly these giants can put life into perspective.

Freire Has Stage Victory Invalidated at Basque Tour

Just when you think you?re witnessing one of the least interesting stages of the summer, a 179-kilometer (111-mile) up and down grinder in the Vuelta Ciclista al País Vasco, with the predictable break away being dangled on a 2-minute string by the big named teams who will inevitably bunch it over the last climb to [...]

Amgen Tour of California ? The Day After

The only thing bad about the Amgen Tour of California, with it’s beautiful scenery, world-class competition, excellent organization and stage selection, is that every year…it has to come to an end.  For a rabid cycling fan, the worst day of most big stage races is the day after it’s concluded.  You wish it could go [...]
