Halfords Tour Series 2012 Oxford Photos

Tues evening was the first edition of the Halfords Tour Series to be held in Oxford.     It was based around a twisty circuit on St Giles with several sharp hairpins, and two long straights up and down St Giles. It was quite a scenic criterium circuit with St John’s and some other colleges [...]

Breaking News: Building the U.S. Bicycle Route System

Well, I was all set with a fun blog post about why I, personally, support the U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) and what the project means to me. Unfortunately, some breaking news has forced me to postpone that post until Tuesday. But trust me, the breaking news is well worth it.

Yesterday afternoon we put out a call to all our friends, followers, and fans to help us reach $25,000 by the end of the week. This morning, I'm very excited to announce that a pair of supporters have contributed $15,000, bringing our grand total to almost $40,000. Our anonymous donors decided to make this generous gift to show their support and challenge their fellow adventure cyclists to make a small donation to reach the remaining $10,000 of our $50,000 goal.

We are so close to our goal. With a little less than a week left in the Build It. Bike It. Be a Part of It. campaign, every dollar counts.

Remember, donations of $100 or more qualify for a limited-edition USBRS cycling cap, designed by business sponsor Walz Caps.

At the same time as all of the above-mentioned exciting news, business sponsor Giant Bicycles has come in with a $2,000 fundraising challenge. Help us break $40,000 and raise that last $10,000 by taking advantage of this 1:1 challenge and donating today.

Giant was founded in 1972 with a mission: to create better bikes and improve the cycling experience. From the very start, innovation and manufacturing expertise set them apart.

Beginning with their lightweight chromoly frames, Giant's ability to produce high-quality bikes at an affordable price allowed more riders to experience cycling in a whole new way. Since then, Giant has pioneered advancements in both aluminum and composite engineering. They introduced the first affordable carbon fiber bike, the Cadex 980 C, and revolutionized high-performance road bikes with their Compact Road Design. In mountain biking, Giant's Maestro Suspension established a new level of performance for off-road riding and racing.

Over the last four decades, Giant has grown well beyond its manufacturing roots to become the world's leading brand of quality bicycles and gear. With more than 12,000 retail partners worldwide, they aim to inspire adventure in all riders, from casual to competitive.

Giant bikes win world championships. They win design awards, too. But most importantly, they win the hearts of riders who choose to make cycling a part of their lives. They support that choice and think it makes the world a better place.

Giant aims to be a trusted friend on every road, path and trail that unfolds before you. Giant is proud to be part of your cycling adventures.

As their slogan says: RIDE LIFE. RIDE GIANT.

Today?s 13th stage, a short mountain course starting in Pau, climbing over the mighty 1,709 meter Col d?Aubisque and finishing in Lourdes, France, saw many of the general classification contenders taking a bit of a break over the 152.5-kilometer, or 95 mile trek.
