TdF Halfway Point ? Havoc, Mayhem, Carnage

When it?s over, it will be very hard for anyone to discuss this 98th edition of the Tour de France, without mentioning the numerous, high profile, and wild crashes that have marred the first half of this year?s contest. Not only has there been an extremely high number of riders hitting the deck, but [...]

Tour of Pembrokeshire 2012

Being all signed in the day before, all I had to do on Saturday morning was get up, faff briefly about layers, and ride to the start line.  Due to the sun that was already shining, and the uncharacteristically optimistic forecast, I opted for a little less layerage than last week – socks, legwarmers, shorts, [...]

1984 Bike Tour: Day 6 ? Rest day; mailing gear back homeThat year?s Top 40

Six days into our TransAmerica bike tour, and we're already taking our first day off. The first five days have been a shakedown cruise -- the last days of training and the first of our trip. I feel that our journey begins in earnest tomorrow.

After lolling around our hostess' apartment for a while, we boxed up some clothes to send back home. I sent back an extra sweater and other clothes that only filled space and added weight to my panniers.

Why did I pack so much crap? Maybe I can cheat gravity a little a we head into the Appalachians...

No Parlee?well not yet.

Senior technical editor Warren Rossiter is starting to get rather excited about the bespoke Parlee he’s having built for him. He wants it look a bit like his favourite bike. Not sure about the colour though… After my first fitting with the guys at Bespoke, things are now starting to progress. Parlee have sent through [...]

Tour de France, Stage 2- How Do They Do That?

55,645 Kilometers Per Hour! That?s 34.6 miles an hour. That?s the AVERAGE speed of Garmin-Cervélo in the short 23-kilometer (14.3 mile) Team Time Trial contested on the streets of Les Essarts, France on Sunday. Team RadioShack, just 10 seconds back, were close to that speed as well. Given the perfect [...]
