That?s a Wrap. Best. Team. Camp.

And that?s a wrap. Team Camp is complete. Although it was a chaotic week of hard riding, challenging drills, and extensive learning, it was a resounding success.  The best team camp ever. Period. My Highlights of Team Exergy TWENTY12 Team Camp: Palm Springs. Palm Desert. Palm whatever. I love this place, and I think I [...]

30 days of biking: Will Rogers and Wiley Post flew here

Boaters and rafters must consider these snags where the Cedar River flows into Lake Washington the same way that bicyclists view tacks or broken bottles in the road. Maybe worse. While a chard of glass can puncture a tire, a limb from one of these trees can poke a hole in a fiberglass boat or rubber raft and sink it. These trees have likely taken a long trip to get here. The Cedar River picks up plenty of fallen trees as it meanders through its flood zone to the river channel that cuts through Renton. The occasional flood pushes the snags downstream and eventually out into Lake Washington. ...

Breaking out of the Saddle

Bicycle touring is a blast, and great way to see some good sights, but it can also be a good way to enjoy activities other than bicycle touring. Over the past few years, my touring companion, Sarah, and I have used bicycle touring as a means of hitting some cool destinations.  For the most part, this involves touring to a trail head or wilderness boundary to start a backpacking trip, but has also brought us to surf destinations, and coming this summer, some climbing destinations.

If nothing else, it's a good way to stretch the legs out after spending a good amount of time in the saddle, and a great way to explore those mountains, lakes, or beaches you might otherwise ride past.  Here are some photos of a few of our exploits.
