The Morning?s Half-Stage at De Panne

Team RadioShack?s Michal Kwiatkowski (POL) hung tough today in cold, wet conditions to take 7th place in a furious bunch sprint finish to the 111-kilometer half-stage of the 3 Days of De Panne. With the unusual two event closing day format, like the Criterium International, this first half-stage started early and was over by [...]

Bespoke Spokes ? The Third.

Production Editor Tass Whitby has gone for the third fitting for a custom bike, this time from Paulus Quirós, for our upcoming feature on custom-built bikes. It sounds like the ‘fitting’ mostly involved a pleasant ride by the sea. Not too shabby… There are all sorts of ways to buy a bike ? from your local [...]

Making an attempt for 30 days of biking in April

Originally I dismissed the idea of 30 Days of Biking, launched in 2010 and posted to Twitter by two Minneapolis cyclists as #30daysofbiking. It is returning in 2012, and already I can see several dates looming in April when I just don't know how I'll get out on my bike to ride. I have good reasons to skip those days. But other people have what they call "good reasons" to skip a day, or a week, or a month or to never use a bike to ride to work, run an errand, or just get some exercise. Maybe my reasons are just as lame. So I'm going to give it a go and see how many days I can ride this month. Maybe I'll do all 30, which would be great. Maybe I'll only hit 25 ...

Wall Photos

Long before Facebook, I've taken and posted "wall photos." Maybe it is due to fact that I am more likely to be cycling at 7-10 mph than at a 20-25 mph clip. You notice walls at casual pace.

Their lines. Their textures. The way the light plays with them.

Walls make excellent photo subjects. They stand still. They never tire. And they don't even mind if you lean your bicycle against them while you find just the right angle.
