TdF Stage 4 ? Shoot Out at Mur-de-Bretagne

Many thought that today?s 173-km (107.5-mile) 4th Stage going from Lorient to the short but steep ramp up the Mur-de-Bretagne had Philippe Gilbert?s name written all over it. This is exactly the type of course that the current dominant Belgium national champion has built his reputation on. And given his latest form, winning [...]

New site aims to make finding a cycling buddy easy

The team that created the popular site Jogging Buddy is aiming to make it easier for cyclists to find others to cycle with. After all a 70 mile ride can get a little dull after a while. Recharging the Batteries

I'm out of the office this week recharging my creative batteries at an art retreat with friends. Yeah! (Thank you to my boss, Carla, for supporting me when I do this annually.) In the meantime, here are a couple of things to consider as the planning continues for your spring bicycle travel:

If you are planning to bring electronic equipment on your tour, take a peek at the two posts I wrote a while back on the subject: Keeping a Charge on the Road and More Charging from the Road. They might be a little dated so be sure to add your ideas to the comments for a current (get it?) perspective.

And, as you finalize your bicycle travel plans for this year, you might want to check our forums. There have been some lively discussions this winter on topics such as routes to ride -- on and off the Adventure Cycling Route Network, safety in the U.S. and gear to use when you're out there. I am happy to say, over the last few years in particular, we have attracted some really knowledgeable cyclists who regularly participate in these discussions. There is no cost to join the conversation, all you need is an email address.

See you next week!

GEOPOINTS BULLETIN is written by Jennifer 'Jenn' Milyko, an Adventure Cycling cartographer, and appears weekly, highlighting curious facts, figures, and persons from Adventure Cycling's Route Network with tips and hints for personal route creation thrown in for good measure. She also wants to remind you that map corrections and comments are always welcome via the online Map Correction Form.
