12 bicycle wall calendars for 2012: The sexy and sublime

Time marches on, pedal stroke by pedal stroke. In a few days, your bicycle calendar will be woefully out of date.

Here are a few suggestions for calendars that you might not mind seeing every day in 2012.

The women's bicycling gang "The Belle Starrs" is entering the calendar madness in 2012 with its "Safety is Sexy: Your 2012 pin-up is a guide to ride." Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, the bicyclists are raising money for their club as well as a local charity. That's Stacy Schroeder on the cover, with other members featured inside.

How to keep your bicycle maintained cheaply.

When I got back into cycling 3 years ago it never crossed my mind that I will have to pay a small fortune to keep my bike maintained and running in good order. The cost of servcing a bike seems to vary as a basic service could cost as little as £30 to a full service for around £120.00 this is excluding any parts that may be required. My Local bike shop charges £69.00 for a bronze service, for this basic service which is really just checking your bike over, if you need any parts that?s even more cash you will have to part with. Learn how to maintain your bike and drive the cost of bicycle maintanance down.

Bikes and Costumes

Halloween was yesterday, and I hope you did something fun -- while wearing a costume! I'm pretty sure that bikes and costumes were meant for each other like ... bikes and coffee.

Although certain considerations must be taken when planning your bike costume, such as having large eye holes and the avoidance of dangling tails (I can't even tell you how many near-death experiences costume tails have caused me!)

What is your favorite bike costume? Did you dress up for Halloween this year? Do you dress up for Critical Mass? Tweed Ride? Cyclocross Races? Day of the Dead? Or just for the heck of it?

TdF Stage 12 ? Klöden ? Pain and Suffering

To the uninitiated, when enthusiasts talk about how elite cyclists can suffer and push themselves through pain, it?s usually a good thing, a compliment. It often refers to a rider pedaling up a high mountain or a long time trial where the toughest mental competitors drive themselves beyond their physical red zone and can [...]
