Education Courses for 2012

If you?ve been following our website, you?ll know that we?ve already begun announcing our tours slate for 2012 -- and so far, things are shaping up for it to be a heck of a year. What you may not know is that, in addition to self-contained and supported bicycle tours, we also offer several education courses each year. As the acknowledged experts on self-contained bicycle travel, we?d like to share with you some of what we?ve learned from organizing and leading bicycle tours over the past 35 years, through our Introduction to Road Touring (IRT) and Leadership Training Course (LTC). Whether you?re looking for a primer on bicycle touring basics or the fundamentals necessary to organize and lead tours of your own, we?ve got you covered. Beginning with a wintertime LTC this January in sunny, central Florida (right before our Florida Keys Winter Escape), here is our full schedule of 2012 education courses.

Introduction to Road Touring
Our Introduction to Touring (IRT) courses will introduce you to the basics of self-contained bicycle travel. A wealth of information is covered during these courses to teach you the basics of self-contained touring, beginning with two days of classroom instruction and ending with a four-day, self-contained camping tour through the countryside in Vermont, Oregon, or Wisconsin. This will give you the opportunity to test ride and apply what you?ve learned during your classroom sessions.

Intro to Road Touring ? Wisconsin (June 9-14, 2012)
Intro to Road Touring ? Vermont (June 23-28, 2012)
Intro to Road Touring ? Oregon (July 29 - August 3, 2012)

Leadership Training Courses
Our Leadership Training Courses (LTC) are designed to teach the fundamentals of leading a self-contained bicycle tour, and all Adventure Cycling tour leaders have taken one of these four-day courses. People attend the course for various reasons -- to start leading tours on their own, to hone leadership skills, or to get more background for helping with local cycling events. Whatever the reason, the Leadership Training Courses are open to all interested cyclists. This year, we?re offering the course in three new locations in different parts of the country.

Leadership Training Course ? Florida (January 12-15, 2012)
Leadership Training Course ? Denver (May 10-13, 2012)
Leadership Training Course ? Minnesota (June 7-10, 2012)
